After seeing the Saunders get off for their trip to VT for the funeral services the Kings decided to head back to Attitash Mountain for some more Alpine Slides. The kids had a great time. They even made a new friend that spent the entire day with them. His name was Dan he was from Virginia. Zack did have a little mishap - he fell off - he got a few scratches - but I am so proud of him - he got back on and rode the rest of the day!
After 6 hours of sliding we headed back to the campground. After dinner we just spent a leisurely night hanging out.
Boy being on vacation can be tiring!

Today we headed west to Cannon Mountain. We took the tramway to the top of Cannon Mtn. The tramway will hold 80 people but if it did you would know what Sardines felt like in that little tin can. At the top of the mountain we had a picnic lunch with this incredible view. We were at times literally in the clouds.
After lunch we hiked up to the summit to the observation deck for some more photos. We took the tramway back down the mountain. In the lobby we say the plans for the new monument they are putting up in memory of 'The Old Man in the Mountain'. Today's trivia question - When did the Old Man in the Mountain "retire"?
Next we drove down to Lost River. The kids did some mining and found some cool things. However - we were unable to find the Lost River because my kids did not have on appropriate foot wear! So it is still lost!
We headed back to the campground. After supper Kathy took the kids swimming to the pool while the Saunders did the laundry and packed for their trip back to VT tomorrow.

The Kings and Saunders got a late start today. We left the campground and headed to Pizza Hut for lunch. Our destination was WildCat Mountain. We were headed there looking for adventure - and boy did we find it. After months of dieting to reach her goal - Kathy was going to experience her reward - Riding the ZipLine. But before we could - Grandma and Zachary took the Gondola to the summit of Wild Cat Mountain. While we waited anxiously at the bottom - we saw the wierdest caterpillar. Nick told us it was poisonous. Now I'm no bug expert but I've never heard of a poisonous caterpillar!
We finally headed out to the ZipLine. First we had to take a ski lift up. Kathy was freaking out because it was rocking like a ferris wheel when they first got on and she was having flash backs to her father rocking the ferris wheel when she was little. When we got off the ski lift we had to hike up this steep trail to the Zip Line.
By this time Kathy and Nicholas's nerves were starting. By the time they put us in the harness - Kathy's heart was going to explode. Kathy said to the attendant - I didn't see your this many days in a accident free workplace - and the attendant said - oh about that. It was really funny.
Now let me tell you about the whole ZipLine experience. They sit you in this canvas chair. Next they strap in your waist and then shoulders. The only way you are going any way is if the whole chair comes with you. While they are strapping you in you are sitting with your feet on this door. Now the thing is you know when the door opens it's bye bye time. That door is the only thing keeping you at the top of the mountain. As you see them pull the string to open the door - your heart leaps out of your chest. But once you start flying down the mountain over the tree tops - it is this incredible experience. You reach speeds of 45mph of wind whipping through your hair and on your skin! Awesome. Well maybe not for Nick - he screamed all the way down. The only scary part is the end of the ride. To stop you - you basically slide into this giant spring which stops you - but it is not a smooth stop - it is very abrupt. The funny thing about it is it makes this farting sound! It's quite funny!
We would all definately do it again. We all did it - Kathy, Nicholas, Mikayla and Grandpa in memory of Uncle Henry - who always lived his life to the fullest. Gotta live everyday like you are dying!
Next we headed back towards to the campground. The boys stayed there while the girls went in search of school clothes and funeral clothes. We came back, had dinner and watched Finding Nemo while Kathy worked on the blog!

Today the King's decided to head West towards Lincoln. Our destination - the Hobo Railroad. After getting our tickets we had some time to kill before the train. We walked around, had a snack and took some pictures. Next we headed up to the show - Hobo Phil. Nicholas was kind enough to volunteer his mother to be the Hobo Magician's Assistant. Kathy had to stand up front and concentrate on a card and send the message to another member of the audience. The magician thought she had too much interference so she had to wear an antenna and blow a blower so he could get the thought. But he did.
Next we headed onto the train ride. As we were headed out of the station - Kathy looked out the window and at the Hobo Golf place - she saw the Robars playing golf. Kathy was able to get Lenny's attention! Hope they are having half a good time as we are.
The train ride took us down a beautiful scenic ride along the river. On the way back - Hobo Phil came and made balloon animals for all the kids. But when he came to Nick he gave him an unblown up black balloon and told him it was a worm - that's what he gets for picking on his mom. Kathy loved that Hobo!
After the train ride the Kings headed to the NH National Forest to Lower Falls for swimming in the Potholes. The kids had such a great time in Vermont last year - Kathy just knew they would love this - and they did! She finally had to drag them out so we could head back for dinner.
The King's caught back up with the Saunders at the campground after they returned from Vermont. We had hotdogs and fresh corn on the cob. We watched Rush Hour 3 before heading to bed.
Today's trivia question - the National Forest has a week long recreational pass - what os the cost of it to use the 800,000 acres of National Forest?

Today's post is dedicated to the memory of Ed's brother - Henry Saunders who passed away this morning. RIP
After the Saunders left for Vermont, the Kings had a leisurely morning of sleeping in and a late breakfast. After lunch we headed to Attitash Mountain. Kathy, Mikayla, Nicholas and Zachary headed to the Alpine Slides. We rode the ski lift to (gulp) the top of the mountain (gulp gulp). We got our Alpine sleds and headed all the way down the side of the mountain. Kathy was convinced she was gonna die. The kids rode it again but before they could take a third trip a thunder storm moved in and shut down the slides :(. We headed back to the campground. We decided to sit out the storm watching movies. First movie was Bruce Almighty. Next was the Ugly Dachshund. And finally todays trivia question... What was the name of the third movie which had a meal called the 96er, and had a bald bear in it?
And then we headed to bed watching Uncle Buck.

Today we were up and out of the trailer at our earliest time. We have reservations for the Cog Railroad and we are dressed appropriately this time. We arrived at the train in time to walk around to the museum, gift shop. Eva the Beaver found a beaver to have her picture taken with.
When it was time we loaded the Cog Railroad for our 45 minute ride up the mountain. At one point on the trip we were at a 37 degree incline on Jacob's Ladder which is in the Guinness Book of records as the most treacherous train trestle. We also saw profile rock. It was really weird because the buildings and trees all looked like they were crooked but it was really us.
We made it to the top and were able to walk around for about 45 minutes. We had lunch and took some amazing photos. We boarded the train for the ride back down.
So today's question is - how tall is the summit?
Next we headed back towards the campground. But we recieved a call the Ed's brother had taken a turn for the worst and was given only 2 weeks to live. We headed back to the campground so that they would start to make some arrangements. Kathy did everyone's laundry.
THe Saunders decided to head to Vermont the next day to visit him. So we went to bed early which meant the blog would have to wait!

Well we headed out today after breakfast. We were headed to the Cog Railroad but once we arrived there and found out there was going to be thunderstorms on the mountain at a temperature of 50 degrees and we were dressed in shorts we decided to change our plans. Much to Mikayla's excitement we decided to head to the North Pole to visit Santa at Santa's Village.
We were greeted by Rudolph that had a lovely conversation with us. Next we took the railroad around the park. Next we headed to the Little Elf's home. Next stop were the Antique Cars that even go through a car wash. We sat down to watch a show but it was cancelled since it was starting to sprinkle :(
Next we stopped at this booth with this cute little old man. He made each one of us a ring made from a nail. He picked on Mikayla and then told Kathy she had a beautiful smile. Kathy loved him. Next we went to visit the MAN himself. That's right we went into Santa's house and the kids had a picture taken with him (Mimi was so excited!)
Next we walked over to see the Nativity scene and then Grandma and Zack went on the SS Peppermint Twist.
Next stop was to feed all of Santa's reindeers. Next we headed into the theater to watch the Christmas the almost wasn't. Next we went on the Great Humbug ride where we were each given a laser to shoot the humbugs! We headed back to the car to eat lunch. We headed back into the park for a 3D movie Tink's adventure. Zack was waiting all day to go on the Sleigh Monorail where we headed next. Zack was leading the way he totally enjoyed the park. After sailing around the park in Santa's sleigh we headed to the Little Drummer Boy Ride which is basically the teacups. The kids were spinning their's so fast everyone was watching them - while Zachary was laughing his butt off. We ended our visit to the Himalaya and the bumper cars.
Now today's question is - it rained while we were at the park - How much were the rain ponchos we got today?
We decided to head to dinner at a restaurant we had a certificate from Restuarant.com - Rosa Flaminga. We had 2 certificates so we had to eat separately and pretend we didn't know each other. Because we had the certificates we had so much food we ended up having some for breakfast and lunch the next day!
We headed back to the campground. It was a lot of driving today but we had a great time. Sorry we didn't get the blog done. See you soon.

Today we decided to get an early start. We had banana bread and chocolate chip bread for breakfast. We headed west on Rt. 112 through White Mountains National Forest. Once we started up the mountain, there was a sign that said "No gas next 32 miles." We were low on gas (even though Kathy knew we had more then enough) so grandma started freaking out. Grandpa told Kathy that she was going to walk to get the gas. We went to Loon Mountain. We took the gondola to the top of the mountain. The view was breath taking. At the summit there was a treasure hunt to find Loon Gold. We followed the clues and it led us to the Glacial Caves. They really weren't caves they were crevices the kids crawled and squeezed through but they had a lot of fun. Tired we rode the gondola back down. We had lunch at Loon Mountain.
Next we headed to Lincoln, New Hampshire to Clark's Trading Post. First we rode the train into Wolfman Country. Grandma thought the Wolfman would of made a great husband for Kathy and was gonna throw her overboard. Then we went to see the Chinese Acrobat Circus. There were 6 guys and 2 girls. The 6 guys climbed poles, did flips and tumbled through hoops. One girl was a contortionist who could put her butt on her head!! The other girl was a balance expert. She could balance 9 wine glasses, two trays and 16 little (lit) candles & 1 big candle on her nose while standing on a ladder on top of a rocking platform while waving two streamers!!! Holy cow! Next we saw The Bear Show. There were 4 bears that performed. They played bearsketball, swang on a swing, rode a scooter, and jumped on barrels all for ice cream. Todays trivia question is...bears in the wild live to be about 4-6 years old. But these bears are very well taken care of. How old was the bear that lived the longest?
Next we walked down and looked at the museums. Kathy, Mikayla, and Nicholas went on Merlin's Mystical House. Next Kathy, Zachary, and grandpa went on the bumper blaster boats. Mikayla and Nicholas were ready to squirt them from outside...but unknown to them Kathy told everyone in the line to shoot water at them. DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN. By the end of the ride they were as wet as the riders were. Finally Kathy, Nicholas, and Zachary drove the segways.
We headed back across the National Forest to our campsite. We had ham and beans for supper. While grandma and grandpa took a walk Kathy and Mikayla worked on the blog (not sure where the boys are). Now the plan is to have a campfire and head to bed for another busy day tomorrow. See you tomorrow!

After a leisurely start, we headed off on a new adventure. We headed to Storyland - where all your dreams come true! The kids were a little creeped out about the idea of going here but we were going back to where I went as a child. Storyland is based on all the nursery rhymes you knew as a child. We saw- Humpty Dumpty, Old Lady that lives in a shoe, Mary had a little Lamb, Buckle my Shoe, Sambo, London Bridge, 3 Billy Goats Gruff, Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Rabbit, Peter Pumpkin Eater, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Cinderella, Mother Goose, 3 Little Pigs, Sing a song of Sixpence, Alice in Wonderland just to list a few. After a little coaxing - the kids finally got into the pictures!
We rode on the Mad Hatters Tea Cups, Silver Mine Tour, Polar Coaster, SlipShod Safari, Turtle Twister and Bamboo Shutes. We also went to see the Circus. The most amazing thing was the Quick Change artists!
After a hot day in the sun we left the park and headed to the Outlets. A little retail therapy never hurt anyone! Mikayla was able to find 3 pairs of jeans, a sweatshirt, shirt and bag all for back to school for $50. But the buy of the day went to Kathy. Trivia Question of the day - Kathy bought a pair of pants and a shirt at Lane Bryants. What did she pay? If you are the closest you will win a prize!
We headed back to the campground for dinner - Lasagna - YUM! After supper Kathy and Mikayla worked on the blog. We even missed the campfire bringing this to you - hope you appreciate it! Well its been a long hot busy day. We are off to shower and then to bed. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. See you then!

Well the King Family is off again to fun and new places. This year we are headed north to New Hampshire to the White Mountains. We are staying at Eastern Slopes Campground in North Conway. So if anyone is up here give us a call so we can get together. The campground is really nice. It has a pool and 2 beaches on the Saco River. Each campsite has a lien to that has the picnic table under it. We have a huge site. We could easily fit 2 campers. So come on up!
It was a really easy drive up here. Although we decided to try something different with our cat Abbey. We bought her a harness and leash so that we could let her out of the travel cage she hates so much! But after getting out she decided she liked the cage! The other problem was the traffic! Most of the trip we were going only 30mph! I love to drive but it was PAINFUL! As we made it into the White Mountains, Mikayla suddenly said "Mom, I'm seeing faces! On the Route signs it looks like the paint is chipping off and it's leaving faces on all the signs!" So today's trivia question is What was Mikayla seeing?
We made it up here around 630pm and set up camp. After a late dinner we watched RV. After all it is a great camping movie. We all headed to bed.
